{"id":574,"date":"2014-09-20T14:00:20","date_gmt":"2014-09-20T20:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phantomimages.com\/blogs\/gardening\/?p=574"},"modified":"2014-09-20T14:02:55","modified_gmt":"2014-09-20T20:02:55","slug":"october-is-approachingtime-to-plant-garlic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phantomimages.com\/blogs\/gardening\/2014\/09\/20\/october-is-approachingtime-to-plant-garlic\/","title":{"rendered":"October is Approaching &#8211; Time to Plant Garlic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it\u2019s that time of year again, and it came so quickly this time!\u00a0 Wasn\u2019t it just yesterday when I was digging my year\u2019s garlic harvest out of the ground and hanging it to cure?<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, for those of you who grow your own garlic, I hope you ordered early in the year as many of the good suppliers are sold out at this point.\u00a0 You will still be able to purchase garlic seed at a local hardware store, but it won\u2019t be the same as buying from Fillaree or Territorial Seed.<\/p>\n<p>The first couple of weekends in October will be the optimal time for planting garlic so get your gardens prepared now so you aren\u2019t scrambling at the last minute.\u00a0 Remember that garlic bulbs need to be fed during their growth periods prior to the winter freezes (if you get those) and also need plenty of water as well.\u00a0 Don\u2019t over water, but definitely do not let the soil dry out either.\u00a0 The better you treat your garlic bulbs early on, the bigger and stronger the bulbs will grow!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it\u2019s that time of year again, and it came so quickly this time!\u00a0 Wasn\u2019t it just yesterday when I was digging my year\u2019s garlic harvest out of the ground and hanging it to cure?
